15 Chadians Boko Haram Fighters Killed As Nigerian Soldiers Repel Attack On Biu

Troops at habour area after the recapture of Gombi town
Fifteen persons suspected to be Chadian nationals  were killed today as members of Boko Haram launched a morning raid on a military barrack in Biu, South of Borno State.

A  Biu resident said he counted 15 corpses of the Chadians in front of the military barrack while seven persons were said to have been captured alive by soldiers after they sustained injuries from the gunfight.
The number of Boko Haram members killed in the crossfire is yet to be ascertained as the source said there was information that more bodies of more sect members were still being evacuated inside the barrack while the 15 were those killed outside the gate.

Last year, President Goodluck Jonathan had visited President Idriss Derby of Chad for a meeting that turned controversial after Presidential spokesman, Reuben Abati released photos of former Governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff seated in the meeting in a manner with Derby and Jonathan. Sheriff had just been accused of being a major sponsor of Boko Haram by Australian negotiator, Stephen Davis.
Sheriff has since denied the allegation while the Department of State Security gave him a preliminary clearance after it paraded some seven men the DSS alleged conspired with Stephen Davies to tarnish Sheriff's image. The DSS had however said that it was still investigating Sheriff.

Obasanjo Declares He Is Now ‘ABJ’ – Anything But Jonathan

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday escalated his rejection of President Goodluck Jonathan’s second term bid by declaring his current mindset to be “Anything But Jonathan” (ABJ).

He expressed his feelings to several of his aides following a late evening meeting with President Jonathan at his home in Abeokuta.  Both men were in the presence of Pastor Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, and Bishop David Oyedepo of Winner’s Chapel.

To make matters worse, a few hours after meeting with Jonathan, Obasanjo met with leaders of the All People’s Congress (APC) and their presidential candidate, Muhammad Buhari, where he affirmed he will support the best candidate regardless of party affiliation.

Jonathan’s closed-door meeting with Obasanjo clearly failed to soften the former leader’s hostility towards his floundering re-election bid as Obasanjo bluntly told him that having referred to him as a “tout”, it was hypocritical for Jonathan to turn around to describe him as the best president Nigeria ever had.  It would also be recalled that two months ago, presidential adviser Doyin Okupe gave Jonathan that honor.

On Sunday, as he received members of the Northern Elders Council in Abuja, an angry Mr. Jonathan had in a barely-veiled description of Obasanjo, dismissed him as a statesman.

“Some people call themselves statesmen but they are not, they are just ordinary politicians,” Jonathan told his guests.  “To be a statesman is not because you have occupied a big office before, but the question is what are you bringing to bear?  Are you building this country or are you a part of people who tell lies to destroy the country?”

Upon arriving at the meeting with Obasanjo today, Jonathan tried to turn on the charm, lavishing praise on Obasanjo as he blamed the escalation of attacks on him as the work of his (Jonathan) aides.
President Obasanjo apparently did not buy any of the goods Jonathan was hawking.  Shortly after the encounter, he told his aides he would not change his position on Jonathan’s presidential bid.

Obasanjo’s subsequent and open display of affection towards the APC leadership is reportedly sending shock waves up and down Jonathan’s camp, where it is regarded as confirmation that the conciliation efforts with Obasanjo have collapsed, leaving him in grave political danger with the election just one month away.  It will be the first time a PDP candidate tried to win the presidency with Obasanjo not the candidate, or firmly on his side.

SaharaReporters has also learnt that before the meeting with Buhari today in Abeokuta, the former president had written a letter to Buhari to smoothen their relationship.

Latest Prophecy: Neither Goodluck Nor Buhari Will Rule Nigeria After February Elections

An Enugu based prophet, Anthony Nwoko on Monday disclosed that neither President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP or Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, APC will rule Nigeria after the February elections; THIS DAY reports.

Nwoko who had in 1993 prophesied the end of the military regime of former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (rtd), said, ''I had told Babangida in 1993 to leave office and it happened and in 1998, I prophesied that Abacha would leave office mysteriously, and you saw what happened''.

''In 2010, I told Nigerians that they should not expect much or any miracle from Jonathan. Now, in this coming election, Jonathan will only serve as John the Baptist and Buhari has not got any heavenly crown to rule and he will not rule this country because he hasn’t got that crown.

''Don’t take my prophesies for granted because I had also told Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar(rtd) not to make Olusegun Obasanjo president and I had also warned Obasanjo not to make late Umaru Yar’Adua president and my advice was not heeded and you saw what happened''

''I can see the glory of Nigeria in the Southeast and I don’t agree with Wole Soyinka that Jonathan is Nebucadnezar, Jonathan is a forerunner to the glory of God''.

''Before the eyes of ordinary people, either Jonathan or Buhari will win the election but in the eyes of God, none of them will preside over the country’s affairs after this election'', the Prophet said.

If GEJ is wise, he should resign - Tambuwal

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, on Wednesday, November 5, asked President Goodluck Jonathan to resign from office “because of all the mis-governance and the untold hardship Nigerians are presently passing through”.

During the formal declaration of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed for a second term at Metropolitan Square in Ilorin, Kwara State, Tambuwal warned that if he fails to do that, Nigerian voters should revolt against him at the February presidential poll, as the Premium Times reports.

“That will bring peace, progress and development of Nigeria,” he said.
The Speaker had, at the APC extraordinary convention last week, said the party would chase out the “cabal” running the country at the poll next year.

“I am sure that (Kwara) state will provide such leadership to the extent that we shall deliver this country to the government at the centre to APC.
‘’By voting APC at the centre you will be voting for prosperity and eradication of poverty. What we are witnessing today in Nigeria is not governance, but mis-governance. We are witnessing a system that does not have the interest of the people of this country at heart,” he said in Ilorin on Wednesday.
According to Tambuwal, Kwara State’s political history is a rich one. He said the foundation of the political struggle and the structure laid by the late Olusola Saraki was being sustained by God.

He also noted that with the support of the people, the APC would “form 100 percent of the government in the state from the local council to state Assembly and to the Government House”.
A former governor of Lagos , Bola Tinubu, who also spoke at the event, lambasted Mr. Jonathan for allowing the Boko Haram terrorists to seize parts of the nation’s territory, stating that he ought to have resigned because of the development.

The APC leader, who recently returned from a medical trip abroad, asked the party members to be ready for change because the race had begun. According to him, the party had endorsed Mr. Ahmed for second term because he performed well in office like his predecessor, Bukola Saraki.
Moreover, Mr. Tinubu alleged that the PDP administration not only steals the people’s money on daily basis, but also refused to give them jobs.

He said: “I will come back. This is just the endorsement of Governor Ahmed; that he will be re-elected by the grace of God with the support of you people here and those outside there. The unemployment situation will be conquered by this administration of APC. We have the vision for the security of lives of our children.”
