Former Governor Gbenga Daniel's Business Associate Quizzed By EFCC Dies Mysteriously

An Ogun state socialite and business partner of former Ogun State governor Olugbenga Daniel has died mysteriously in Abeokuta.

Mr. Olumide Apagun who was arrested last week and quizzed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC over shady financial deals involving the former governor reportedly committed suicide.

EFCC sources said he was highly cooperative during his brief detention as they prepared towards brand new fraud charges against the former governor. Chief Apagun would have been a key witness for the EEFCC on the financial shenanigans involving the former governor.

However, Chief Apagun, a well known socialite and Egba high chief reportedly drowned in an artificial lake at a Golf Resort jointly owned with Mr. Daniel in Abeokuta late last night according one of the accounts regarding his death.

The police is yet to uncover the basis of his death but several sources in the state said that the late Olumide does not have a portrait of someone with suicidal ideas because he loved life and had fought several battles aimed at taking him down since Mr. Daniel was linked to him in some shady deals  involving his administration.
