It looks like Tom Cruise's unlucky number is 33 - as all three of his ex-wives called it quits when they reached that very same age.

Mimi Rogers, Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes were all in their early thirties when their marriages to the Hollywood leading man took a turn for the worse.


Fans of the heartbroken star searched for a meaning, some postulating that the number 33 is related somehow to Mr Cruise's religion, Scientology.

Mr Cruise married Mimi Rogers when she was 31 in May of 1987.  She was 33 when they broke up in 1990. In his second marriage to Nicole Kidman, the actors stayed together for ten years. They split in 2001, when she was 33.


His wedding with Katie Holmes was in 2006 when she was 28 and this week, when she filed for divorce, she had reached the ripe old age of 33.

In each case, divorce proceedings began when the wives were 33 and concluded when the were 34.

Regardless of the positive connotations, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise's divorce will not be recognized by the church of Scientology, according to church documents.

With sole custody of Suri, Mrs Holmes would be able to remove her daughter from the Church of Scientology despite her husband's enthusiasm for it.


The estranged couple have been raising Suri in accordance with the doctrine of the Church of Scientology - treating her as an adult, free to make her own decisions.

According to reports,  some of the conditions the actor must fulfill before being let off the hook are that he, Jim Iyke, must tender a written public apology to Habiba Abubakar in at least two Nigerian daily papers. And that he, Jim Iyke, must also  pay back the N16.5m he collected from Abubakar but this time in installments.

Two Journalists Beaten As FCT Minister Order Demolition Of NUJ Secretariat

 

Two Journalists, Gbenga Olamikan of Vanguard Newspapers and Rotimi Osasona of National Mirror Newspapers were beaten by armed policemen attached to the Federal Capital Development Authority, FCDA, for attempting to take pictures of the demolition of the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalist, NUJ, Abuja.

The NUJ Secretariat is being demolished on the orders of the FCT Minister, Mr. Bala Mohammed.
According to the official who simply identified himself as Mr. Bature, the District Officer for Utako, he was acting on the orders of the FCT Minister while shouting that “nobody can stop me from doing my work even if you the media or whatever you call yourself.”

Bature who came with a truck load of armed policemen also instructed the policemen to manhandle some photojournalists that were trying to take snapshots of the demolition exercise, had their cameras seized and left two of them, Rotimi Osasona of National Mirror Newspapers and Gbenga Olamikan of the Vanguard, badly beaten and are now receiving treatment at a private clinic.

The cameras of the duo which was later recovered from the office of the agency were badly damaged with their memories removed.

The NUJ in a statement said the demolition of structures in its premises is an affront on press freedom and abuse of power by officials of the FCDA, stressing that the Council would pursue the matter until justice is served.

Acting Chairman of the Council, Abdulrasheed Abdulkareem, who signed the statement, described the incident as unfortunate and one of the many sad developments against journalists in the country.
Abdulkareem listed items lost in the unfortunate incident to include: six transparent fridges, a four feet Thermocool freezer, a 32 inch LCD set and several plastic chairs and tables. Other items include several crates of drinks, glasses, and stereo set.

The Acting Chairman informed that the Union would pursue for the Development Control to compensate for all that were lost during the demolition while calling for the sanction of the officer who ordered that journalists be assaulted.

R*E*V*E*A*L*E*D. GENESIS OF BOKO HARAM, TRAINING AND CHANGING TACTICS.

In 1995, the group was said to be operating under the name Shabaab, Muslim Youth Organisation. It operated from the Indimi Mosque, located along Damboa Road, Maiduguri, Borno State and had one Mallam Lawal as leader and another Mallam Usman as secretary.

It was learnt that in 1999, Lawal left Nigeria for further studies at the University of Medina, Saudi Arabia, thereby yielding the leadership of the group to the man known as Mustapha Modu Jon, commonly called Mohammed Yusuf.

Yusuf’s leadership was said to have opened the group to political influences and increased popularity.

Although Yusuf’s religious activism was linked to Kano, where he had brushes with popular Islamic clerics, he was said to have laid the foundation for the growth of the organisation.

Details about the late Yusuf, however, indicated that he hailed from Gingir village in Jakusko Local Government Area of Yobe State. He was born on 29 January 1970, married four wives and had 12 children.

“By 2000, Yusuf had won the respect and confidence of some clerics and youths at Indimi Mosque. He started presiding over some mosque activities and along the line, he upstaged all the teachers to emerge a leader. Many youths who followed him saw the older clerics as secular and anti-Sharia.

“His followers are largely illiterate youths who engaged in petty trading or had dropped out of school,” a source said.

ESTABLISHMENT OF MUHAMMAD YUSUF.
He then established his own mosque in an area called Railway Quarters in Maiduguri, while also extending his preaching to the mosques located at Kandahar, Unguwar Doki (near Monday Market) and Millionaire’s Quarters.

Investigators were also told that by early 2004, the Islamic sect had grown in states of presence with Borno, Yobe and Bauchi being notable and that some of the converted youths abandoned their studies to join the group. The ready-made army of followers were, however, said to be the Almajiri.

It was after 2004 that the sect leaders were said to have established links with the Algerian Salafist Group, now known as Al-Qaeda in Islamic Magreb, (AQIM), which gave them training on combat and use of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

From trainings acquired in AQIM, it was gathered that members of Boko Haram were able to show dexterity in handling of weapons and manufacture of what is called “dirty bombs” through IEDs

NEW STRATEGY.
It was gathered that investigations by operatives have revealed that following recent arrests of high profile members of the sect as well as the fortification of most high targets, including headquarters of security outfits, a strategy has been put in place to ensure precision of attack.

Said a source close to the administration, “recent discoveries have shown that due to the fortification of premises of important buildings set aside as targets by Boko Haram, strategy has been put in place to simulate convoys of high profile Nigerians so as to gain access to target buildings.”

The plan, according to sources, is to use convoys with sirens to infiltrate headquarters of security agencies and local government area offices of such agencies to unleash terror.

Another strategy is to attack christian worship centers in volatile Northern states, this will trigger reprisal in all parts of the country, therefore the security will be highly involved in containing the situation that will enable Boko Haram to unleash deadlier attacks to their targets easily and achieve their aim of causing general chaos and anarchy.

RECRUITMENT.
As a result of the comments said to have been attributed to a top Nigerian security source that the Boko Haram would soon run out of suicide bombers, investigators were also said to have confirmed fresh recruitment drives.

It was gathered that the group now uses internet to propagate its activities and enhance its radicalisation and circulation of extremist ideologies.

Already, it was said that the sect is planning to double its huge following in such states as Kano, Bauchi, Adamawa, Yobe, Sokoto, Plateau, Kaduna and Katsina.

The recruitment drive is said to be targeted at muslims between ages of 17 and 30, a source said, adding that the group has also been recruiting its followers through prison breaks when freed prisoners are brainwashed to become adherents. - Nigerian Dan Arewa.

Pastor runs mad while praying for mad man

People living at Oke-Ado area of Ibadan, Oyo State, as well as shop owners and automobile dealers along Molete road in the town, on Thursday, watched a drama involving a pastor and a mad man.

The pastor, whose name is Timothy, according to an eyewitness, got to Ososami junctions of Oke-Ado around 5.20 p.m and went to meet the mentally-deranged man, popularly known as Tunde, who was sitting in front of a building in the area.

According to Semiu, a shop owner around the spot of the incident, the pastor began to read the Bible on sighting the mad man, while he moved closer to him and laid the hand on his head.

“At a point, there was a hot argument between the duo, which made the pastor to raise his voice as he was offering a deliverance prayer for Tunde, the mad man. The hot prayer lasted for over 15 minutes before another strange drama began,” Semiu told the Nigerian Tribune.

Speaking further, another witness, an okada rider, said at a point, the mad man removed the pastor’s hand from his head, adding that “suddenly, a strange spirit got hold of the pastor and he began to remove his cloth. He was naked and laid flat on the ground, speaking a strange language, with foam oozing out of his mouth.
”
The mad man, it was gathered, initially left him in this position and sat at some distance away from the pastor, before the duo later sat closer to each other, while onlookers watched the strange drama.
The pastor remained in state of insanity until the Nigerian Tribune left the scene of the incident.

How did he join such groups at an early stage in life? “The story started in my final year at the university of Ghana, I was studying oil and gas engineering, I got my master degree in oil and gas engineering. At the final year, things were so tough for me that I needed to finish my education, but there was no way to get financial help, at the end of the day I consulted my parents but it was fruitless”, he stated.
According to him,“usually I chat with somebody on the internet that helps me with money. He is a man and that was before I later got married to a Norwegian lady in 2003. We had a kid before she travelled, but she usually call me on phone once in while, at that time, I called her for financial help but she didn’t have any cash.”
He said the person who used to assist him complained that he could not continue sending money to him, and as such, he has to fend for himself.“He told me that he cannot continue sending me, money, money. He said I have to work for myself, and I asked him, how, he said you have to do it on your own”, he stated adding that from that point he decided to locate the church of satan in Ghana where he was told that his initiation would be done in far away Califonia, USA. In deed, travel documents were prepared for him and he travelled to ground Lodge at Early Noise in Califonia where his initiation took place.

He said after the initiation process, he demanded to see the devil, and was asked to write a request letter to the devil which he did. His request was granted within two weeks, and he was able to meet face to face with the devil who asked him to make three wishes, adding that his third wish for long life could not be granted because church members only live within the space of thirty years after joining the church of Satan.
“The devil demanded that I make three wishes from him, which I consented to, that I want to be famous, wealthy and live long, but the third one he refused to grant disagreeing to the idea, that any one that joins the church of Satan will always live for thirty years, once you join at 20, you live till 50. This I agreed to because I was eager for money”, Kofi stressed.

He further disclosed that after joining the church of Satan, Satanic Bible was made available to him, sword of slaughter, initiation glove, Suit and other items. He however explained that he didn’t lose his manhood until he added another feather to his cap in the occult world by joining yet another group. “When I joined the Score and bone society, that’s when I sacrificed my manhood to increase my wealth”, he added.

Beside the monetary gains from the cults, he was also sent on an assignment which is to win souls for the kingdom of Satan. Through this, he has won more than 23 souls for Satan, using the advantage of the wealth he was given. “Boys and girls who are eager for money, wealth, I show them the way. I have offices in Port-Harcourt, Warri, Abuja, Ghana, I give them what to do and they begin to make money on their own and also teach them how to join and I send them over”, he added.

How did this bring joy to his parents? Kofi said after making money, he decided to open a plaza for his mother in Ghana, but she rejected the offer, claiming that it was a blood money, because of her attachment to Christ and a vision she saw in which she saw the source of his wealth. But father and his siblings accepted him.

His trouble however started after he became uncomfortable with his life. At that point, he began to look for powerful pastors that could save his life. When his cults discovered he was going astray, he was penalized and given 49 days to die.

“I was given 49 days to live, I have spent 19 days, and it remains 30 days, before deliverance came to me through Pastor Mouka of the Lord’s Chosen”, he stated.

Having learnt some bitter lessons, Kofi wants youths not covet what others have while urging parents to restrict what their children watch on television screens.

On his manhood that was restored during the deliverance session, Kofi said “I give God all the glory that my manhood was restored back, am happy now that I can make more babies again.”

My uncle who also lives around was able to drag her away from the house. I was still sleeping on my bed the next morning, when she walked into my room and bathed me with hot water; I staggered to the living room and saw my father and uncle. That was the last I remembered before I passed out and woke at the hospital."

"The father said his brother came into the house around 4:30am the next morning to settle the rift that occurred the previous day; they all sat in the living room, when the wife stood up and went into the kitchen. Woman Gangs up with maid to Assault husband's lover

Woman ganged up with her house maid to severely beat up her husband's secret lover.

Rosemary Sibanda (24) of Tshabalala, bumped on her husband Austin Sibanda (28) and girlfriend Sibonginkosi Ncube, after she had just disembarked from a commuter omnibus with her maid Alice Phiri.

Upon realising that he had been caught, Sibanda took to his heels leaving the girlfriend at the mercy of the two furious women.

The wife repeatedly slapped the girlfriend while Phiri held her hands to prevent the undercover lover from fleeing or retaliating.

Ncube was only rescued after the intervention of by passers.

Sibanda said Ncube was her husband's ex girlfriend and always suspected the two were having an affair.

"What business does she have with my husband? I do not talk to my ex-boyfriends because I know it's inappropriate and I expect the same from him. If there was nothing sinister then why did my husband run away when he saw us approaching," said a livid Sibanda.

"Iwant my husband to make an apology in writting which i will show to my parents after which we will go for an HIV test."

7 feared dead as flood sweeps Lagos

LAGOS — Residents of Lagos State were, yesterday, enveloped by flood following heavy downpour that started Wednesday night.

A number of houses and roads were submerged by the flood caused by the rain that lasted several hours.
Sections of Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway were cut off on both sides by the flood, leading to a gridlock.
Many road users were forced to return home or seek alternative routes, while others remained at the spot, waiting for the flood to abate.

A portion of Murtala Muhammed International Airport Road by Mobil Filling Station was submerged, as were some areas in Mafoluku, Oshodi. Many residents could not make it to their offices and business places yesterday as most areas in the state were heavily flooded.

Vanguard learnt that in some areas, many property were swept away and some major roads in the state were blocked.

Some of the worst hit areas include: Popo Igunnu, Jimoh and Ago-Hausa Streets, all in Okokomaiko, Iba Local Council Development Area; Jakande in Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area; Sango, Igi avenue, GRA Ikeja, Gbolahan Bankole Street in Igando LCDA, Aboru; Ipaja-Ayobo, Shogunle, Apapa, among others.

Aiyepe Street in Itire, Canal Pepple Road, Shomolu, Agbado-Ijaiye, Ikola, Agbado-Okeodo LCDA, Akintan, Cele, Bakery Bus Stop, all in Ejigbo LCDA; Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation , NNPC at Ejigbo LCDA had its fence destroyed during the downpour.

N96m bribe: I collected money not bribe – Lawan

 

Details of the testimonies of the suspended Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Monitoring of Subsidy Regime, Mr. Farouk Lawan, showed that he admitted taking “money” and “not a bribe” from oil businessman, Mr. Femi Otedola.

Lawan had appeared before the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges on Thursday. The committee, which is investigating the $620,000 bribery allegation, is headed by Mr. Gambo Musa. Findings indicated that the panel grilled the former Chairman, House Committee on Education for over fours hours, starting from 1.07pm.

Investigations showed that before the panel, Lawan tried to draw a distinction between money and a bribe.
He was said to have argued that he took money with the aim of exposing Otedola, not a bribe.
A source, who was privy to the details of the testimonies, said, “He told the committee that he took money to expose Otedola, as different from a bribe.

“In the statement he issued, where he admitted taking the money, he drew the attention of the committee to the fact that he was careful with his choice of words. “Bribe was not mentioned in the statement, but money. Money he took to expose Otedola.”

Lawan reportedly tendered text messages and call logs to the panel as evidence that he did not initiate the transaction between Otedola and himself. “From what he tendered, it seemed the transaction was not initiated by him.

“So, what the committee has decided to do is to confront the other parties to the case with the information Lawan has divulged”, the source, who pleaded anonymity, added. Asked whether Lawan was in possession of the $620,000, the source said he replied that “a lot more information will be made available as the police and other agencies continu with their investigations. The truth is there.”

The source explained that because of the sensitive nature of the investigation, the committee later reasoned that it was not wise to make the inquiry public. “Lawan has information and documents; he has text messages; he has call logs and other evidence.

“The committee didn’t want other witnesses to take advantage of a public appearance and work on their own testimonies. “The committee wants to throw Lawan’s claims on other witnesses to see how they will respond. “In that way, some conflicting information may come to the fore.

“The other witnesses too will be heard in camera and will be accorded the same protection as Lawan”, the source stated. Lawan was discharged after four hours of meeting with the panel. According to the source, the committee resolved to invite him again if the testimonies of other witnesses punctured his claims “or if there is the need to hear from him again.

“Otherwise, the committee is done with him.”

4 security operatives (operation burst) die in Ibadan auto-crash

IBADAN—Four days after a tragedy claimed the lives of seven traders in Ibadan, four men of the Oyo State Government security outfit, Operation Burst, yesterday, died while four other civilians sustained injuries when their van collided with a private car.

Those that died in the accident were policemen and soldiers who were joined to check criminality in the state.

The fatal accident happened on Mokola-Sango road when the vehicle of the securitymen lost control after negotiating a bend and skidded off the road.

After losing control of the vehicle, the driver hit an electric pole before it crossed its lane and faced the car heading towards University of Ibadan.

The Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Command, DSP Olabisi Ilobanafor, said: “One Police Inspector, Adebola Apata, Lance Corporal Bola, a female, and one private soldier, Oneh, died, while “Police Corporals Bello Kayode and George Adeyemo and Sergeant Abdullahi Mannir (soldier) as well as the driver of the private vehicle and the cyclist were injured.”

Meanwhile, Governor Abiola Ajimobi, according to reports, immediately rushed to University College Hospital, Ibadan, where the victims were taken to. Ajimobi, after emerging from the Emergency Ward of the hospital, said the government would foot the medical bills of those injured.

He was accompanied by the General Officer Commanding, 2 Mechanised Division, Nigerian Army, Ibadan, Major-General M.D. Abubakar; state Director of State Security Service,SSS, Mr. Charles Ugwu; state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin; Chief of Staff, Dr. Adeolu Akande and other top government officials.

Married Lover Dies During Sex Romp

A married man, Amaechi Uche Padmore, has been arrested by the police and charged to a Lagos court on the allegation that his lover, Edith Nwokolo, died while he was having sex with her.

He is now facing a murder charge at Ebute Metta Magistrate’s court, Lagos over her death.
P.M.NEWS learnt that the lovers, who are both married, engaged in sex romp at 94, Mushin Road, Mushin, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

It was gathered that while Uche was on top of Edith, she started breathing heavily, jerked and died.
They were reported to have dated each other before they got married to different spouses.
Sources said immediately the incident happened, Uche, who has three kids, abandoned his pant and shoes and fled.

Edith was found dead on top of a bed and a neigbour who saw Uche with her before she died, raised the alarm and the matter was reported to the police at Olosan Division.

He was arrested and arraigned on Wednesday for murder before the presiding Magistrate, Mr. T. Aborinwa under section 221 of the criminal code law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.

P.M.NEWS gathered that her death triggered controversy as the deceased woman’s family insisted that Uche was responsible for her death.

But the autopsy report presented at the court showed that she died of heart related problem. When the matter came up at the court, Uche pleaded not guilty.

The presiding magistrate granted him bail since the autopsy showed she died as a result of heart problem.
The court referred the matter to DPP for advice, while adjourning it till 25 July, 2012.

Mr. Taiwo Benson has urged an Ado-Ekiti Grade 1 Customary Court to dissolve his eight-year-old marriage with his wife, Maureen, because she used séx as a bargaining tool.  Benson also told the court that his wife was not only troublesome, she had also abandoned him and did not show love and care toward him, the News Agency of Nigeria reports. Benson told the court that the marriage produced two children, aged six and four years. He said, “My wife denies me séx on a regular basis. She only gives me séx whenever she wants to get something in return. “There have been countless occasions when I demanded séx from my wife, and she would just ignore me like I did not exist. “She uses séx as a bargaining tool. This has been the biggest issue in the marriage. Why will my wife be starving me of séx?” He said his wife was often quarrelsome, adding that they were always having problems in their marriage because of personality clashes. Benson said, “She is a very proud and stubborn woman. I am also a proud man, and both of us cannot be proud at the same time so this always caused problem between us because we are never on the same page.  “She does not show me any kind of love or affection. I am tired of this marriage and I implore this court to dissolve the marriage. The wife, who was present in court admitted starving her husband of séx but noted that she stopped having séx with him when she realised that he slept around. Maureen said, “I stopped having séx with him as soon as I knew he slept around. My husband runs a non-governmental organisation. So, he travels a lot. Whenever he gets back and I am packing his loads from his car, I always saw used condoms in his car. “Whenever I accused him of cheating on me, he would beat me and immediately he finished beating me, he would want to have séx with me. “When I refused to give him séx at that point, he would say that séx was the remedy to calm nerves down after a fight.” Maureen said Benson always wanted her to practise what they watched in pornographic movies. “My husband is a big fan of pornographic movies, and he derives pleasure and joy watching them. Whenever he watches it, he will always want us to practise what they do in the movie. “I am not a porno star; how am I supposed to do that? I was not raised in such background. As usual, my refusal results in beating, and he even goes as far as threatening me with a machete he keeps in our bedroom. “I cannot go on this way; please I want the dissolution of this marriage.” The counsel to the petitioner, Miss Okonny Hilda, pleaded with the court to adjourn the case in order to respond to the defendant’s counter claim. Civil Servants in Ondo state and the Nigerian Labour Congress’s national body have endorsed the Ondo state Governor Dr Olusegun Mimko for a second term in office even as a mass rally was staged in support of the second term bid by the workers.

The support rally by workers in the State in Akure the state capital, was attended by the national officers of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).

Tambuwal docked by EFCC Over fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, arraigned Mr. Bello Tambuwal, 34, of Tambuwal Global Motors Limited, before Justice Mohammed Talba of the FCT High Court, Gudu District, Abuja on a one count charge of criminal breach of trust.

The charge reads: “That you, Alhaji Bello Mohammed Tambuwal on or about 15th day of December, 2009 at Abuja, in the Abuja Judicial Division of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory being entrusted with certain property, to wit, a Lincoln Navigator Jeep motor vehicle belonging to one Chief Damian Ozorumba committed criminal breach of trust and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 312 of the Penal Code Act, Cap. 532, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria ( Abuja ) 1990”.

Tambuwal’s trial followed a petition to the EFCC by Chief Damian Ozorumba dated February 5, 2010. Ozorumba had alleged that on the 15th of December, 2009, Tambuwal approached him and indicated interest to buy his Lincoln Navigator SUV for an agreed sum of N11, 500,000 (Eleven Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira).

The petitioner said that two days after the accused took possession of the vehicle, he informed the owner that Sokoto state governor, Alhaji Aliyu M. Wamako was the prospective buyer and promised to pay the complainant the agreed sum on the 19th of December, 2009 but failed to do so.

The accused person pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.The defence counsel, Onuoha Ogbujie thereafter applied for bail supported with a five paragraph affidavit. But this was objected to by the prosecution counsel, A. R. Mmatoh who argued that the defence has not placed sufficient material before the Court to guarantee that the accused person will not jump bail since he already has a record for jumping bail with the EFCC; and that he has a similar case pending before another court. After listening to the argument of counsel, Justice Talba ordered that the accused be remanded in EFCC custody and adjourned to 2nd July, 2012 for ruling on the bail application.

Woman arrested for calling ex-hubby a Boko Haram member on FB

23-year old mother of one has been arrested by policemen from Ipaja Police Station, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, for calling her ex-husband a member of the Boko Haram sect on Facebook, the social interaction site on internet.

The suspect, Afolakemi Mojisola Adeniyi, was arrested following a complaint lodged at the station by her former husband, Alfa Umar Gobir, that his ex-wife posted his picture on facebook and tagged him a member of the Boko Haram.

Umar told the police that he received several calls from friends and associates throughout the weekend, asking him why he joined the sect and that he kept telling them that they were mistaking him for someone else until one of his friends told him to check Facebook.

Umar said he was shocked when he saw his picture on facebook and the words written below the picture read: “This is one of the Boko Haram any time you have contact with him, bomb him.”

Umar further explained: “I was sleeping on Saturday night when I started receiving calls from my friends asking me why I joined the Boko Haram sect. I was surprised since I did not belong to the sect, but one of my friends called me again and said I should go to Facebook. He told me that my picture was there as a member of the sect.

“I was shocked when I saw my picture on the social networking site.”
Umar told the police at Ipaja that very early that day, he went to Ipaja where his ex-wife lived with her parents and reported the case to them.

His ex-wife confirmed to him that she posted the picture on Facebook because he told her that she and her child would die. Umar told the police that few hours after the parents of his ex-wife begged him to forgive her, she posted another one on Facebook saying she did not regret her action.

The second posting reads: “Am nt regrtn of d pic upload by me 2 any 1.”
When Afolakemi was arrested and the police asked her why she did it, she simply said that Umar told her that she and her child would die.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ipaja Police Station, Titiladayo Segun, after listening to both parties, advised Afolakemi and her parents to go and beg the complainant for forgiveness because of the little child they have, adding that with the evidence before him there is no way she would not go to jail should the complainant insist on going to court.

Gobir told the police that he is yet to decide whether to take his ex-wife to court, adding that he needed to consult his family over the matter.

All the expatriate pilots and co-pilots working for the embattled Dana Air have all left Nigeria. 6 Captains, 13 co-pilots and 3 female pilots tendered their resignation to the Airline company and have relocated to their respective countries. The fatal June 3rd crash was said to have affected their desire to continue working in Nigeria.

The death of Captain Peter Waxton, the pilot who flew the crashed plane, also affected the other expatriates. Captain Waxton was not only the most experienced pilot, he was also the highest paid amongst the pilots of Dana Air.

The co-pilot of the Dana crash Indian Mike Mehandra had a six year old son and a pregnant wife due to deliver in August.

… Sambo denies calling for emergency rule

Scores of Kaduna residents and visitors caught up in the ongoing violence fled the state on Friday after government relaxed the curfew by four hours to enable Muslims observe the Jumat prayer.
Also residents of metropolis besieged markets, fuel stations and other business premises to make quick purchases following the announcement.

The various motor packs were also filled with people who are desperate to leave the town for fear of continuation of violence and the curfew which has imposed great hardship on the people.

Governor Ibrahim Yakowa had in a broadcast to the people of the state announced the relaxation of the curfew by four hours, after which it will revert back to 24 hours on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Presidency on Friday denied the reports linking Vice- President Namadi Sambo to the call for the imposition of state of emergency in Kaduna State.

A statement released by the media aide to the vice- president, Mr. Umar Sani, said at no time did Sambo discussed or presided over a meeting where the issue of declaration of emergency rule in the state was raised.

Sani described the reports as “false and mere cheap lies” fabricated to cause disaffection between the vice president, governor Yakowa and former governor of the state, Ahmed Makarfi.

The statement reads:

“Our attention has been drawn to media reports alleging that the Vice President Arc. Mohammed Namadi Sambo in a purported pursuit of a presidential ambition and in order to get at Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa of Kaduna State ostensibly for his supposed closeness with former Governor Ahmed Muhamed Makarfi was pushing for an imposition of a State-of-Emergency rule in Kaduana State.

“At no time was there any meeting involving Kaduna State in which the Vice- President discussed the supposed Emergency Rule.

“We find the story not only malicious in contents but an orchestrated attempt to disparage the hitherto good relationship that exists between the trio. It should be noted that they not only enjoy good and cordial fraternal relationship but excellent working one as well.”
