There's nothing that puts a smile on a person's face like the beginning of a new relationship.

But reality doesn't seem to have sunk in quite yet for Kanye West because he had an almost theatrically lugubrious expression on his face in New York last night.

And this must have been a real treat for the people at BET's 106 & Park, where the usually-flamboyant personality was a guest. 

Kanye, always a man who goes his own way despite any social conventions that might suggest he do otherwise, refused to muster even a half-grimace let alone an actual grin.

Put bluntly, the star - whose cheerful, hedonistic leopard print jacket was starkly at odds with the sheer despair etched into his features - looked like he'd had some really, really bad news.

The 34-year-old did not look like a man who has snared one of the hottest women in the world.

It's a shock, as according to the Kris Humphries model, this level of utter dejection should only kick in around sixty days after a hasty marriage to the reality star.
And this pair are so new they haven't even had their first reality show together.

And let's face it, we're all hoping they at least get to the unisex fragrance stage before the obligatory messy break up, confessional rap lyrics and Hike away the Heartbreak exercise DVD. 

Over in Los Angeles, 31-year-old Kim didn't exactly look on top of the world either, suggesting the pair might be missing each other or have had their first row.

If it is the latter, there is no chance we won't hear about it, these two are the world's premier sharers.

But we have to be thankful that they weren't together as Kim was wearing giant palazzo trousers, which next to Kanye's jacket would've made them look like a circus act.
