"Don't contest 2015 presidency" -Entertainers warn Jonathan

The debate over President Goodluck Jonathan’s political future has continued to attract widespread condemnation. Several frontline entertainers, while condemning the declaration of the president before an Abuja High Court that he was qualified to contest the 2015 Presidential Election called on President Goodluck Jonathan to immediately bring to a standstill his ambition of contesting the next election. They implored Mr. President to deliver his promises to the people of Nigeria and should not be distracted by the political future of his office, while advising him to respect his promise to contest for a single term in office.

PETER FATOMILOLA (ACTOR)
He is yet to spend a year out of the four of which he was elected and he is already pre-occupying his mind with what may or may not be feasible by 2015. You can imagine the kind of politicians we have in Nigeria. The man is just self-centred. You are yet to deliver the dividends you promised us and you are thinking of getting another term. With the situation in the country, insecurity, non-functional power system, dilapidated infrastructure, corruption-laden administration and you are already thinking of getting another mandate. This is absolutely sick.

TIWA SAVAGE (MUSICIAN)
This is my message to Mr President: Please, concentrate on providing the dividends of democracy to the electorates. You should know, if there were opinion poll whether you should continue till 2015 or be dropped now, I am sure you will get less than 20 per cent in your favour. Please, pray to complete this term peacefully first, before making another wish. It is unfortunate good governance is not in our constitution.

JAYWON (MUSICIAN)
Mr President, please finish this term and go back to your lecturing job because your term is not peaceful to Nigerians. No food, no good health care, no job for graduates. In fact, the truth remains that the Nigerian people are suffering.

FEMI BRAINAD (ACTOR)
I don’t think the issue of who would run for public office in 2015 should be something we should worry about at this moment. And truly, I would think what he has on his agenda, is more than enough to keep him fully busy and committed to such an extent that he should not be distracted from the aspect of good governance. And the issue on if Jonathan has a constitutional right to contest by 2015 and not, what he has done or yet to do, is all rubbish for now.

KANAYO O KANAYO (ACTOR)

I don’t blame the president; I only blame the people who went to court to request for the disqualification of Jonathan from 2015 elections. The courts summoned the President to defend himself and he did by asserting that the constitution permits him to run again if he so wishes, but quickly added (outside the court now) that he has not even said or told anybody that he is running come 2015! Now, I had expected the people to tell the person that went to court not to distract  President Jonathan but all of them concentrated their energies on condemning him for answering to the courts and defending his rights on the court case.

KENNY SAINT BROWN (MUSICIAN)
Integrity calls on Jonathan not to even consider a second term. He made a solemn promise which if he breaks will put him on the wrong side of Nigerian history. Let him not justify his enemies. He is truly on the path of cleaning this mess called Nigeria, but let him leave in 2015. He should choose and supports a fresh blood, preferably a young successor who shares his good visions.

DARE ART ALADE (MUSICIAN)
Governance should be based on merit and not on nepotism or favouritism. Personally, I feel the best man should emerge come 2015 and not a man who did not fulfil his promises. I think President Jonathan should focus on this present administration.

PAUL PLAY DAIRO (MUSICIAN)
I keep wondering why Nigerians are so myopic and unfocused to see the reality.GEJ never come out to say he wanted a second term. He has not said anything regarding 2015,so why are you all making noise and accusing him that he is preoccupied with 2015?I am surprised at you people. Why not allow the man to concentrate rather than distracting him from doing what he was elected there to do?

Peeps wats your take on this?
