Without any fear of eminent break-ups, these brave couples chose to live in the now, branding themselves with permanent reminders of the ones they love.

Handfuls of celebrities continue to set a trend for matching tattoos, despite all of them getting a divorce shortly afterwards.


Katy Perry and Russell Brand debuted their matching 'Anuugacchati Pravaha,' tattoos, meaning 'go with the flow,' in 2010 shortly after they got engaged.

Basketball player Tony Parker chose to demonstrate his devotion by copying Eva Longoria's neck tattoo of his jersey number 'Nine'. 


And most famously, Angelina Jolie got 'Billy Bob' tattooed on her left shoulder and her then husband Billy Bob Thornton had 'Angie' written on a mushroom tattoo on his right calf. 


Since their breakup, Jolie had hers replaced with the coordinates of her children's birth places and Thornton had her name turned into an angel.

So what compels a young couple to get matching tattoos? Bruce Raubenheimer, a 25-yaer-old model who lives in New York, tries to shed some light.

A year into his relationship with his now ex-girlfriend, Mr Raubenehimer decided it would be fun to get matching tattoos.

He explained: 'It was brought up as a joke one night and a couple of weeks later we sat in the chair and got them done.

'It was done cause we loved each other and was a symbol of that love. It was a collaboration, a bit of fun and a good story, which takes you back to a super happy moment in time.' 

But the model says he has no regrets, despite no longer being with his girlfriend.
'It is a funny story and I have the little lady on my side for life and we will always share an intense bond. Everybody has history and I'm proud to have shared a moment of my life with her,' he explained.
